Davis Chamber of Commerce recognized a handful of local businesses and honored former Commissioner John Petroff at the 2018 Business Awards Banquet Jan. 26, 2018.
Each year the Chamber comes together to recognize businesses in three categories. The categories are Business of the Year, Employer of the Year, the Award for Innovation and Small Business of the Year. And it also recognizes one outstanding person or company with the Legacy Award. To receive the Legacy Award, the person or organization must positively impact the community and it must be sustained over years.
This years Legacy Award recipient was former Commissioner John Petroff. He has a long history of working in the community. Before becoming Commissioner of Davis County, where he served two terms, Petroff also served as Mayor of West Point City. He has served as a member of countless boards and committees and even owns several Davis County business. Petroff thanked the Chamber of Commerce, his family and the women who work in the Commissioners’ Office, Janet Hanson and Shauna Brady, while receiving his award.
This year Lakeview Hospital took home the award for Business of the Year. Lakeview Hospital provides care to more than 26,000 residents each year and has been doing so for more than 40 years. Two other finalists were Adams & Petersen CPA’s and Gold’s Gym of Northern Utah.
The award for Small Business of the Year went to Mindfire Technology. Mindfire works with Fortune 500 companies, government agencies and world-class healthcare systems to develop software applications, recruit talent and subcontract engineers. Hands on Art 4 Everyone and Results Marketing were finalists in the category.
Klymit won the Innovation Award. Klymit was recognized for its patented inflatable outdoor sleeping pad, a type air mattress that inflates in just 10 to 15 breaths. Minky Couture and Silver Eagle Refining were also recognized as finalists in the category.
The Employer of the Year award went to Ogden Clinic. The healthcare giant serves Davis County residents at six of their 16 locations. Smith’s Food and Drug Stores and Fluid Advertising were finalists.
Davis County is proud to share its home with these great businesses and it is humbled by the service of John Petroff. Congrats JP!
