STD Education & Prevention

STD stands for sexually transmitted disease.
  • People can get STDs from oral, vaginal, or anal sex and also through genital touching and contact with sexual fluids.
  • Common STDs include chlamydia, gonorrhea, genital warts, genital herpes, trichomoniasis, syphilis, hepatitis B & C and HIV.
  • Some STDs can be cured; however, herpes, hepatitis B & C, and HIV typically have no cure.
  • It is difficult to know if someone has an STD.  Many people have no symptoms.
