Recreational Waters (Lakes & Streams)

Water Resources Bureau staff establishes and maintains standards to protect water resources in Davis County and also works with the Utah Department of Environmental Quality to meet Clean Water Act requirements. Law in Utah prohibits the degradation of water resources. When a lake, river or stream does not meet water quality standards, section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act directs the local government to restore water quality.

Sampling and Analysis

Water Quality Specialists go out twice monthly to streams and lakes within the county. They take samples and run field tests to assure that pollution levels have not exceeded allowable amounts. Based upon analysis, environmental controls can be put in place to prevent degradation of the resource.
