Child Safety

Car crashes are the leading cause of death among children under the age of 14.

In Davis County, 95% of car seats are installed incorrectly. To assist parents with the proper installations of their car seats, the Davis County Health Department and Safe Kids Davis County provide:

  • Fitting stations are held monthly at Young Chevrolet in Layton. At this appointment you will receive proper education on how to install your car seat, the proper seat for your child, and your seat model will be checked for any recalls. Call (801) 525-5070 for an appointment or questions about car seats.

  • Check points are held in the county throughout the year. Watch your local newspaper for upcoming events.

  • A low cost Car Seat Program is available.

  • Buckle Bear presentations are available to pre-school through 1st grade students. Buckle Bear is a lap puppet who talks to children about booster seats and pedestrian safety. Call to schedule a time for your class.

  • School and community presentations are available to help kids realize that it is important for every occupant in the vehicle to be properly restrained.
