Pedestrian Safety

The Ogden-Salt Lake Metro area (which includes Davis County) is the 18th most dangerous for pedestrians in the nation.

Several community campaigns are conducted to increase the awareness that more than 63,000 people died and more than a million others were injured in pedestrian-vehicle crashes nationwide. To help educate our community members to be safe and alert while walking, we provide the following services:

  • Green Ribbon Month campaign: Green Ribbon Month is held every September and finishes off with National Walk to School Day. The Davis County Health Department has several materials available to help your school or community organization conduct an educational campaign.

  • National Walk to School Day is held in October. We will provide you with a walkability checklist to see if your walk to school is safe.
