Job Description

General Purpose

Performs semi-skilled work in preparing for and assisting customers with events held at the Legacy Events Center.

Example of Duties

(Any one position does not include all of the duties listed; nor do the listed examples include all duties which may be found in positions of this class.)  

 

Assists with the preparation of a variety of events held at the Legacy Events Center; assists with event set-up/take-down including setting up tables, chairs, and other furniture or equipment.

 

Interacts with customers regularly and provides excellent customer service.  Responds to customers’ requests to ensure event set-up is correct. Assists customers during the rental period or event.

 

Monitors events to ensure they go as planned; provides oversight of buildings and property to prevent any damage during events and to ensure order and cleanliness; monitors participants to ensure responsible behavior.

Checks for and immediately removes garbage and debris from the outdoor areas including the lawns, parking lots, and other common areas; performs other minor custodial work as needed.

 

On occasion may assist with mowing lawns and/or clearing snow.

 

Operates a motor vehicle in a safe manner and in compliance with all Utah laws and regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned.


Education and Experience

This is an entry-level position.  Related work experience is preferred but not required.

 

Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.

 

Must possess a valid driver license; new employees with an out-of-state license must obtain a valid Utah Driver License within sixty (60) days of hire date (exceptions for military personnel and their dependents). Employees driving a personal vehicle while on county business must maintain the minimum vehicle liability insurance as specified in the Utah Code.



Special Qualifications
Must be available for evenings and weekends, including Sundays.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic knowledge of:  customer service; event set-up/take-down. Ability to work well in a stressful situation while providing good customer service. Ability to use a computer and applicable hardware and software.


 

This position may require the driving of a motor vehicle; skill in operating a motor vehicle in a safe manner; ability to insure motor vehicle is operating in a safe manner; knowledge of Utah motor vehicle rules and regulations.  Employees driving a personal vehicle while on county business must maintain the minimum vehicle liability insurance as specified in the Utah Code.

 

Ability to:  work  a flexible schedule as assigned,  including evenings, weekends, and holidays; operate a riding mower, utility cart and snow blower; lift, carry, and otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.; work in inclement weather conditions (including heat and cold); perform physical labor that requires frequent walking, bending, squatting, lifting, stooping, kneeling; work around animals and animal matter; work in a dusty environment; work in conditions that include excessive noise and vibration; follow written and oral instructions; communicate effectively with others; work with a diverse customer base and consistently provide positive customer service; establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other employees and the general public.
