Investigations

Deputies from the Davis County Sheriff’s Office serve in a variety of task forces including Joint Criminal Apprehension Team (JCAT), Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC), Davis County Metro Narcotics and gang suppression.

JCAT is a task force headed and managed by the United States Marshals Office.  The task force is created from several agencies in Northern Utah.  The mission of JCAT is to apprehend dangerous fugitives in Northern Utah.  Davis County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are detailed to this team.

Davis County law enforcement agencies commit members of their staff to the Davis Metro Narcotics Strike Force. The mission of the strike force is to investigate and prosecute those involved in the illegal manufacture, importation, use and sale of controlled substances under state, federal and local laws. This team is governed by an Executive Board comprised of the Sheriff, Chiefs of Police from throughout the county and a representative of the Davis County Attorney’s Office.  Information on suspected drug activity is always welcome.  Citizens will remain anonymous and the information is kept confidential by request.  To submit a tip or report suspected narcotics activity call: (877) 451-4TIP or use the "Submit A Tip" form on the right side of this page.

A full time Sheriff's detective provides assistance with gang activities in the county. The goal is to provide county citizens with a safer community. This detective works with other officers in the county to suppress and track gang activity. A gang is defined as three or more people who form an allegiance to the exclusion of others and who engage in unlawful criminal behavior. Gang information can be passed on by calling (801) 451-4115 or any local police agency.

Detectives from this division serve as liaisons and conduct investigations for cases in South Weber City, West Point City, Fruit Heights City, unincorporated areas of the County, Forest Service Property and Antelope Island. Investigations are also assigned by the Davis County Attorney's Office.  We also assist other agencies in cases where there could be a conflict of interest.

There are currently four full time deputies assigned to conduct investigations in the above mentioned areas. Each detective is responsible for a geographical area and must therefore handle cases of a broad nature. These cases include, but are not limited to property crimes, crimes against persons, rape, assault, drugs, fraud and thefts.  Detectives are routinely assigned cases which are administrative in nature, such as internal affair investigations. Typical caseload for a detective is twenty active open cases.
