Bike Patrol

The purpose of the Bike Patrol is to aid the public by providing a rapid, personable response to those in need. Bike Patrol was established as a way to efficiently engage the public during community events and as an effective mode to discretely patrol neighborhoods for criminal activity.
A uniformed deputy on a bicycle allows for a dynamic and fast response through large crowds and provides a helpful service to the public. The major focus is high volume gatherings such as parades, city festivities and other large proceedings. A deputy on a bicycle may seem less intimidating to those enjoying festivities allowing them to feel secure. A lost child may view a deputy on a bicycle as more approachable and be more inclined to ask for help.
The presence of a uniformed deputy diverts criminal activity. The Bike Patrol has a lower profile than a patrol vehicle giving the deputy the advantage in observing criminal activity.
The Bike Patrol must maintain a high fitness level. A deputy is allowed to become part of the Bike Patrol after passing a training course.
