City Ordinance 10-1-109. Firearms and Weapons.
It is unlawful:
- to hunt within the City limits of Bountiful;
- to discharge any air gun, BB gun, slingshot, crossbow, bow and
arrows, or similar contrivance;
- to discharge any firearm within the City, or when the projectile
will come to rest or is intended to come to rest within the City
limits. This shall not apply, however, to peace officers acting
within the scope of their duties, or to those acting in
reasonable self-defense, or to patrons of a lawfully operated
shooting range.

Centerville

City Ordinance 13-30-3-11. Discharging Firearms.
It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge any rifle, gun, pistol,
shotgun, air gun, bean shooter, flipper, slingshot, or other instrument,
firearm, or BB gun within the limits of the City, except in self-defense;
provided, however, that persons duly licensed to hunt wild fowl by the
appropriate state agency may discharge shotguns in the course of such
lawful hunting in those portions of the City lying between the west line
of the I-15 Freeway and the west City limits and from the north line of
Parrish Lane (400 North) to the north City limits, and provided further
that no such firearms, air guns, or BB guns shall be discharged within
600 feet from any building, house, barn, or other structure. This
provision shall not apply to peace officers in the discharge of their
lawful duties, or target shooting or competition at a City-approved gun
range or in connection with a City-approved target-shooting program.

Fruit Heights

City Ordinance 10-6. Discharge of firearms.
It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge any gun within
the limits of Fruit Heights City, whether said gun be loaded with
blank or live cartridges or projectiles of any kind. This
section shall not apply to:
- The discharge of guns on any target, trap or skeet range,
or shooting area after the erection in proper place of a
proper backstop or barrier for the protection of the
person and property of others, as determined by inspection
and approval in writing by the Davis County Sheriff or his
duly authorized agent, or
- The discharge of guns by any person in a private basement
or cellar target range, or
- The discharge of guns by any person where necessary to
protect life or property or to kill any dangerous animal,
or
- Any duly authorized peace officer acting in the proper
performance of his official duties, or
- The discharge of blank cartridges in theatrical
performances or sporting events, or
- The firing of salutes by firing squads at military
funerals, or
- The discharge of shotguns if the discharge is not within
six hundred feet of a building and is not in such a
direction and distance that it would endanger motorists,
and as long as the shotguns are discharged during a legal
hunting season for which shotguns are the acceptable
weapon as determined and proclaimed by the Utah State
Division of Wildlife Resources and the Wildlife Board.
Said discharge of shotguns for upland game bird or
waterfowl hunting must be in full compliance with the
Wildlife Resources Code of Utah and any regulations of
the Division of Wildlife Resources and shall
only be allowed in such areas as are designated annually
by the Fruit Heights City Council, but
shall not be allowed in any City Park.

Kaysville

City Ordinance 6-6-2. Discharge of Guns Prohibited;
Exceptions.
- It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge any gun
within the limits of Kaysville City, whether said gun be
loaded with blank or live cartridges or projectiles of any
kind.
- The provision of Subsection 6-6-2(1) shall not apply to:
- The discharge of guns on any target, trap or skeet
range, or shooting area after the erection in proper

Layton

City Ordinance 9.60.020. Discharging Firearms.
- It is unlawful for any person to discharge any gun, rifle or
pistol within the city limits, except:
- In self-defense when legally allowed to do so;
- By any peace officer in the discharge of his duty;
- In the case of target shooting, if in a proper place and
breastwork or battery for the protection of the citizens
has been erected, and written approval of such structure
has been given by the police chief.
- Shotguns may be discharged if the discharge is not within six hundred
feet of a building and is not in such a direction and distance that it
would endanger motorists, and as long as the shotguns are discharged
only during a special hunt where written permission has been given by
the appropriate state agency authorizing out-of-season hunting with
shotguns.
- It is unlawful for any person to engage in the act of hunting or to carry
an uncased firearm in the open under conditions which may reasonably be
construed as hunting in the area within the corporate limits of Layton City
- As used in this section, "hunting" is the search for or pursuit of any
wild game animal, bird or mammal, with the purpose of capturing or killing or
attempting to capture or kill the animal, regardless of whether such kill or
capture is actually effected. "Hunting" shall not be construed to mean the
pursuit of such game animals through the use of snares or animal traps or when
the game is to be taken by falconry, except that nothing under this section
shall be construed so as to prevent the Division of Wildlife Resources from
controlling, maintaining or otherwise managing wildlife within Layton City.

North Salt Lake

City Ordinance 13-30-3-11. Discharge firearms and hunting.
- Discharge of Firearms Prohibited. It shall be unlawful for
any person to discharge any firearm (any gun, revolver, pistol,
rifle or firearm of any kind or nature, or any air gun or any
other such type instrument designated to propel or throw
missiles.) within the limits of the City except as otherwise
specifically provided in the following sections.
- Firearms May Be Discharged.
- At the City Police target range, (a private range);
- At a regularly conducted school as part of a supervised
course of instruction;
- At a regularly organized gun club, shooting range where
the range and facilities have been approved by the City
Council;
- In self defense or in any case of any peace officer in
the discharge of his duty;
- In areas of the city designated as hunting areas
provided that no firearms shall be discharged within six
hundred (600) feet of any house, dwelling or other structure.
- Designated Hunting Areas.
A person properly licensed under the laws of Utah to engage in hunting
within the State may discharge firearms while so engaged within the
below designated areas of the City during the designated hunting
seasons:
- That section of property in the very northwest part of our
City—being bordered on the north by our City limits and on the
east by the large metal light poles and on the south and west
by the Jordan River.
- This area is bordered on the south by Davis County and Salt
Lake County lines, on the east by our City limits, on the north
by our City limits and on the west generally on the old Bonneville
Lake level. Again, no hunting within six hundred (600) feet of
a residence building or street.

South Weber

City Ordinance 5-3-2. MISCELLANEOUS OFFENSES.
- Discharging Firearms: It shall be unlawful for any person
to discharge any rifle, gun, pistol, pellet gun, or any other
instrument which expels a projectile within the limits of
South Weber City, except under the following circumstances:
- In self-defense.
- In the case of any peace officer in the discharge of
his duties.
- During regular pheasant hunting or dove hunting season
as determined and proclaimed by the Utah State Division
of Wildlife Resources and the Wildlife Board. Such
pheasant hunting or dove hunting must be in full
compliance with the Wildlife Resources Code of Utah and
any regulations of the Division of Wildlife Resources
and shall only be allowed in such areas as are designated

No person shall carry or discharge any firearms, firecrackers,
rockets, or any other fireworks or explosives within a City park
except persons who have obtained a special permit from the City
