The 2022 Utah State Legislature has been busy reviewing policy and budgets for Utah. A General Session of the Utah State Legislature is when all the members of both the House and Senate meet together to discuss and vote on new bills. In Utah, the General Session starts on the 4th Monday in January and lasts 45 days. The last day of the session this year is March 4th.
The Utah House of Representatives consists of 75 members, each representing different areas of the state. Davis County is represented by 10 of the Utah House members who are elected for two-year terms. The current Speaker of the House, Brad Wilson, is from Davis County.
The Utah Senate consists of 29 senators. Many of these part-time policymakers have jobs in healthcare, business, education or other industries. Five of the Utah State Senators are from Davis County, including President of the Senate, Stuart Adams.
Many bills introduced in legislative sessions are amendments or changes to laws that are already in place. For more information about the 2022 General Session and the bills being discussed at the Capitol click below.
