Dear *|FNAME|* *|LNAME|*,

We’re so glad you’re taking a minute to read our monthly newsletter. Our goal is to share IMPORTANT, HELPFUL, and FUN information each month. The Davis County Website has additional information to help keep you informed.

*Important*
Veterans Day | November 11

This holiday started as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country’s service and was originally called Armistice Day. It fell on November 11th because that is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. In 1954, the holiday was changed to Veterans Day in order to account for all veterans in all wars.

While Memorial Day honors service members who died in service to their country, Veterans Day is set aside to thank and honor living veterans who served honorably in the military during times of war and peace.

Veterans Day is a federal holiday, a bank holiday, a state holiday in Utah, but not always a school or business holiday.

There is intentionally no apostrophe in Veterans Day. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Day is not a day that belongs to veterans, it is a day for honoring veterans directly in front of us right now.

November's Library Board Meeting will have a fun twist. As 2021 is the 75th anniversary of the library system, we are going to be closing up a "time capsule" to be opened in 2046. It will be filled with some significant items from the past couple of years and memorabilia that is sure to be fun to discover again in 25 years' time.
