Emergency Operations Center

Groundbreaking - June 18th

Davis County Sheriff Kelly Sparks and Emergency Manager Ember Herrick spoke at the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new Emergency Operation Center.

The single-story building will be 17,521 square feet with offices, media room facilities, green room, Joint Information Center (JIC), bunk quarters, shower, kitchen, Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) room, several breakout rooms, policy room, search and rescue, vehicle management bay, and the EOC room. The building is designed to withstand a large-magnitude earthquake and high winds like we get in Davis County.

The audio-visual system in the EOC will include a 22’ visual screen that could be divided into 8 separate monitors. The building is designed to be fully functional for 72 hours with a standby generator and fuel tank, including all electrical, heating, and air conditioning, security and CCTV system. The EOC will host training and meetings for the public to help them prepare their homes and families and reduce the impact of disasters in our communities.

Galloway & Company Architecture completed the design for the new EOC. Construction for the facility will be done by Hogan & Construction Associates (CM/GC) and is scheduled for completion in late 2025. Davis County has prioritized $15 million of Corornavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) to build the new EOC.

Junior Deputy Day Camp

Davis County Sheriff's Office
img

The Davis County Sheriff's Office held its first-ever Junior Deputy Day Camp in June. Held over two days, 68 campers between the ages of 9-12 learned about the various operations of the Sheriff's Office.

Campers learned about the cycle of a crime, helped detectives solve a mock theft case, visited a courtroom and met a judge, learned about the Crime Lab and Corrections Division, and participated in demonstrations from the Sheriff's Office K9 Team, Drone Team, Davis Bomb Squad, and the Davis County Sheriff's Search and Rescue. Teams with Life Flight helped kids understand the needs and operations of air transportation. Campers also learned about the physical fitness requirements for deputies by participating in a PT obstacle course.
