Davis County had two ribbon cutting ceremonies on October 24th. The first ceremony was for the new 14-mile Bonneville Shoreline Trail in Mueller Park. Community and Economic Development Director Kent Andersen welcomed Davis County administrators, Bountiful City officials, Bountiful High School mountain biking team, boy scouts from Troop 007 and others to the celebration of the brand new trail that will accommodate all users, bikers, hikers, and trail runners. Commissioners Randy Elliott, Bob Stevenson, and Lorene Kamalu joined others as the ribbon was cut for this new trail.

The second ribbon cutting ceremony that day was for the new Davis Agricultural Heritage Center in Kaysville. The new facility has been a 3-year project funded by Davis County in partnership with Utah State University at the USU Botanical Center. Commissioners Randy Elliott, Lorene Kamalu and Bob Stevenson were joined by Utah State University Vice President Ken White, USU Extension Director Justen Smith, Kaysville City officials, 4-H members and others to cut the ribbon for this new arena. Participants enjoyed watching a demonstration by the cowboy mounted shooting club, “Utah’s Mounted Thunder”.

Property Taxes in Davis County
Due: November 30, 2023

Residential property tax in Utah is administered by county governments. The County’s role begins with the surveying and recording of real property ownership records. The Assessor’s Office is responsible for the valuation and assessment of property values. The Treasurer’s Office collects the property taxes and distributes the revenue to the various local entities such as cities, school districts and special service districts.

Utah’s Truth in Taxation legislation requires public disclosure and hearing procedures if a taxing entity proposes to increase property tax revenues above those provided by growth such as new construction. Some entities that have proposed tax increases this year include city governments, water, sewer, fire and recreation districts. Davis County has not proposed a tax increase since 2017.

Property taxes are due November 30, 2023.
