STDs are sometimes referred to as sexually transmitted infections (STIs). It’s possible to have an infection without symptoms.  In the absence of symptoms, the only way to diagnose an STD is to screen for it. Knowing your STD status is a critical step to stopping STD transmission. If you know you are infected you can take steps to protect yourself and your partners.  You may be at risk for an STD if you:  engage in unprotected sex, have multiple sexual partners, have sex with someone you don't know, and/or use drugs/alcohol while engaging in sexual activity.  GYT (Get Yourself Tested).
