Meet the Sheriff

In April of 2010, Todd Richardson won the election through the Republican Party Convention with over 60% of the vote. Having no opponent from the Democratic Party, Todd took office on January 3, 2011 as Davis County's thirtieth Sheriff. At age 45, Sheriff Richardson assumed responsibility with over 25 years of experience in the law enforcement and paramedicine field.

He is a family man who has always been active in the community in many capacities, including serving on several councils, committees, boards, and organizations, as well as, volunteer work. A few of the organizations where he has served are:

• SWAT/PTRU member for Davis County Sheriff's Office
• Two terms as the Davis County Fraternal Order of Police President
• Davis County Safe Kids Coalition
• Co-Coordinator of Kaysville City 4th of July Parade
• Fruit Heights City Planning Commissioner
• Adjunct faculty member of Weber State University
• Utah State Bureau of Emergency Medical Service Operations Sub-committee

Sheriff Richardson was born in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1964 later moving to the State of Washington to complete his high school education in the small town of Centralia.

At the age of 21 after serving a mission for his church in Texas, Todd accepted a football scholarship to Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. While at Ricks he met and married Pauline and completed his education in Emergency Medicine. With a scholarship in hand he moved to Logan, Utah to attend Utah State University where he continued with football and received his Bachelor's Degree.

While in Logan, Utah he began his career in law enforcement working for Utah State University. Todd pursued his passion in emergency medical services and obtained his paramedic license in Las Vegas, Nevada. While working for Mercy Ambulance, he quickly moved up the ranks functioning in management and operations. He managed the Risk Management Department while regularly working on the road as a paramedic--side by side with those he was supervising.

After a few years in Las Vegas, Todd had an interest in the paramedic program at the Davis County Sheriff's Office and, subsequently, moved his family to Kaysville, Utah. He began working for the Sheriff's Office in the dual capacity of a deputy and paramedic. While a Sergeant, Todd continued his education and completed his Master's Program in Public Administration.

Sheriff Richardson enjoys spending time with his wife and five children. Boating is a family favorite activity for the Richardson's.
