Kent G Andersen - Community & Economic Development Director


Kent Andersen is the Director of Community & Economic
Development for Davis County. He oversees economic
development, planning, tourism, Davis Conference Center and
Legacy Events Center.
Kent grew up in Harrisville, Utah. He earned his Master of Public
Policy and Administration from CSU-Sacramento and his
Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from Utah State
After receiving his Bachelor’s, Kent spent seven years in
California. He worked in the Eastern Sierra region for a non-profit
community action agency in Bishop and a workforce housing
development organization in the resort community of Mammoth
Lakes. He then moved to Sacramento to pursue his master’s degree
and to work for Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson where he helped create a Joint Powers
Authority to consolidate regional homeless services.
In 2011, his love of the outdoors and proximity to family drew him back to Utah. He worked for
Syracuse as the City Planner, spent six years as the Deputy Director for Community & Economic
Development for Layton, and the past year as the Economic Development Director for West
He met his wife Lauren in Sacramento. They share a love of adventure and travel and hike all
over the world. They live in Centerville with their two young daughters and their golden

Shawn Beus, JD - Economic Development Manager

Biography: Previously, Shawn worked as Economic Development Manager in Salt Lake City and Ogden City, specializing in economic development finance and small business development.  Shawn has also been a non-profit housing developer and executive director, assisted living administrator, and health law and general practice attorney.  Shawn spent eight years on his hometown Hooper City planning commission and City Council. He earned associate's degrees at Weber State and Salt Lake Community College, a bachelors from BYU in Management, and a law degree from the University of Utah.  Having lived in the Canary Islands of Spain, Shawn speaks Spanish as a second language. Shawn is on several boards including Local First Utah, Neighborworks Salt Lake Expansion Committee, Governor’s Refugee Employment Committee, Advisory Board of Utah Communites Fund, and the board of Centerpoint Legacy Theater (Davis Center for Performing Arts). In his spare time Shawn enjoys hiking, biking, has completed 3 marathons and somehow still enjoys running (slowly), sports, travel, movies, music, theater, current events, local government, and deciding who to cheer for between the red, blue, and purple.

Area Of Responsibility: Under the direction of the Davis County Commission, Shawn J. Beus oversees all economic development efforts for Davis County including business expansion and retention, small business loans through the Davis Fund for Economic Development, and is administrator of Davis County Council of Governments.

Tony Thompson - Planning Specialist/Property Manager

Biography:  Tony can do anything. He will get it done before anyone knows it needed to be done.

Neka Roundy, MA - Community Development Specialist

Biography: Graduated Brigham Young University with a Masters of Art and was a Doctoral Program Candidate through the University of Utah. Former Mayor of Kaysville City, City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission member.  Current and former member of numerous boards  including the Governor’s Great Salt Lake Advisory Committee, Wasatch Front Regional Council, Friends of Antelope Island, and American Association of University Women.

Area Of Responsibility: Community activities including Great Salt Lake Bird Festival, Commissioners’ Cup Golf Tournament, and Antelope by Moonlight Bike Ride. Marketing creation and implementation for selected events and business retention through visits and legislative action.

Megan Christensen - Economic Development Coordinator

Biography: Megan graduated from Weber State University with her Bachelor's in Business Administration & Marketing and received her Associate's from Utah State University. After graduating, Megan worked for a home builder for two years in their marketing and land acquisition departments. In 2015 she started with Davis County as the Tourism Services Coordinator and then was promoted to Economic Development Coordinator. She enjoys interacting with the public and telling the story of what Davis County has to offer.  In her free time she enjoys being outdoors on the trails, rivers, and lakes. She also enjoys baking, creating and playing with her dog.

Area Of Responsibility: Helps with economic development in the county. Assists with small business loans through the Davis Fund and coordinates Davis Council of Governments efforts.

Haley Rodgers - Tourism Services Coordinator

Biography: Haley grew up in Davis County where she constantly spent time exploring the outdoors and playing at Lagoon. To this day she stays very immersed in the outdoors; camping, hiking and snowboarding any chance she gets. Her favorite hiking trail in Davis County is South Deuel Creek Trail, because she loves hearing the running water and hiking into the shaded mountain side. She is very passionate about the arts. In her free time she is a floral desiger for weddings and events and a music therapist - playing the guitar and singing for hospice patients. She is always up for adventure and travel. Her favorite travel companions are her boyfriend Rod and dog Luna. Haley's life motto is: "Wherever you go, no matter the weather, always bring your own sunshine." - Anthony J. D'Angelo. 

Area Of Responsibility: Manage social media, manage website content, oversee online advertisements, plan marketing strategies, assist in event planning, provide information to Davis County tourism inquiries, and more.

Debbie Sherman - Administrative Assistant


Area Of Responsibility: Under the direction of the Community and Economic Development Director, Debbie handles all office-related functions and assists the Planning Commission, Art Committee as well as the Active Transportation Committee.
