By-Mail Voting – Absentee Voting
Absentee voting refers to votes cast at a location or on a date other than their official voting
time and place. Any registered oters can vote absentee, either by mail, or in person. For details, please

Who May Vote by By-Mail
|

Any person who is currently registered to vote in Davis County may vote by-mail.
Utah allows “no excuse” absentee/by-mail voting.

How to Apply for a By-Mail Ballot and Applications
|
|
A voter may submit an application for a by-mail ballot either in person, e-mail, postal mailing or fax.
An application is available online at : http://www.elections.utah.gov/Media/Default/Documents/Voter_Forms/absentee form.pdf
For military and citizens living abroad an application may also be obtained at: http://fvap.gov
Applications should be submitted to the following offices:
Regular general and primary elections (held in even-numbered years):
Office of the Davis County Clerk/Auditor.
Municipal elections (held in odd-numbered years):
Office of the voter's city clerk or recorder.

Permanent Vote By-Mail
|
|
Vote at your convenience! No need to stand in line on election day! You can have your ballot mailed directly to you on an on-going basis.
Anyone who is currently registered may apply to vote by-mail permanently by simply marking “Yes” on the absentee/by-mail ballot application.
Ballots are mailed out approximately 3 weeks prior to the election.
They may be mailed back anytime as long as they are postmarked the day before the election.
They may also be dropped off at any polling location on election day; or if you change your mind you may
surrender your un-voted ballot to a poll worker at an early voting site or your election day polling location and vote on the electronic voting machine.

Deadline to Apply for a By-Mail Ballot

For voters living in the United States, the clerk must receive the application no later than the Friday before the election. For overseas voters, the clerk must receive the application no later than 20 days before the election.

Military and Overseas Citizens By-Mail Ballot Application
|
|
Military voters and citizens living abroad may file a ballot application electronically. An application must be filed with the County Clerk for each federal general election.
|
|
Deadline for Returning a By-Mail Ballot
|
|
A by-mail ballot is only valid if it is postmarked before (not on) election day and received in the clerk's office before noon on the day of the official canvass.
|

In Person Absentee Voting
|
|
Individuals voting an absentee ballot in the office of the clerk must apply for and cast the ballot no later than the Friday before the election.
|
|
In-Person Absentee Voting for Members of the Military
|
|
A member of the military may apply and cast an absentee ballot at the office of the
clerk no later than the day before the election.
