Buffalo Ranches Ponds, located on the eastern shore of the Great Salt Lake flyway, is a migrant trap where over 200 bird species have been observed. This unique location provides the opportunity to spot common staples and perhaps a few unexpected surprises. Guides Ben and Colin will take the time to point out species, teach bird identification and bird calls, and offer fascinating insights about each species we encounter. This leisurely 4-mile walk (2 miles in and 2 miles back) allows plenty of opportunities to enjoy the area’s amazing birdlife. Buffalo Ranches Ponds is a remarkable destination for birding. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, this enjoyable birding experience is open to all! Don’t forget to wear sunscreen, a hat, and bring water and snacks to stay comfortable.
