If you have a sweet tooth for spotting birds, this hike is perfect for you! The Maple Syrup Trail, newly opened in 2024, is ready to be explored. We’ll journey through this trail system in a counterclockwise direction, searching for riparian birds along the way. Springtime in Mueller Park is alive with the songs of territorial breeding birds, providing the perfect opportunity to listen and learn how to distinguish between different species. Our hike will begin on the north side of the canyon and cross over to the south side, where the Maple Syrup Trail is located, before looping back to the Mueller Park entrance. This scenic loop is approximately 6 miles long. While some sections are marked as difficult, the trails are wide and smooth, making for relatively easy travel. Expect to experience both uphill and downhill stretches as we navigate the trail system. Join us for an exciting adventure filled with birdwatching, learning, great company, and the natural beauty of Mueller Park!
