Retired and Senior Volunteer Program - RSVP

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program’s mission is to assist individuals aged 55 and older in finding meaningful volunteer opportunities in which to share experiences, abilities, and skills for the betterment of community and self.  It is specially designed to provide a variety of opportunities to meet your interests and time.  You decide how much time to give, where you want to serve, and the type of work you do.

Volunteer options for Retired and Senior Volunteer Program are for individuals 55+

  • Meals on Wheels - Deliver lunch to homebound seniors
  • Senior Center Meals - Assist with lunches provided at the Senior Centers (Clearfield, Kaysville, and Bountiful)
  • Reading Mentors - Volunteers read with elementary students to improve reading and comprehension
  • Activities Instructors at Senior Centers (Clearfield, Kaysville, and Bountiful) - Volunteers lead various classes including exercise, crafts, art, card making, book club, etc.

RSVP FAQ

RSVP is the largest volunteer network for people aged 55 and over.  Age eligible individuals wishing to volunteer through RSVP must complete an enrollment form and schedule an orientation with the RSVP staff.  The enrollment form may be filled in online then printed out for mailing to RSVP or bring it to the RSVP office.  Electronic submissions are not available.

Some volunteer opportunities require a criminal background and National Sex Offender check to be performed and completed successfully.

 
No, there is no charge for membership into Davis RSVP.

RSVP provides a small mileage reimbursement to volunteers for travel between home and the volunteer site.  Supplemental insurance coverage for personal injury and liability is provided through The CIMA Companies, Inc. and underwritten by QBE Insurance Corporation.  A copy of the policy is available upon request.  Coverage includes traveling to and from home to the volunteer site and while volunteering.  There is no charge to the volunteer for this coverage.  CIMA pays after all other policies have made payment on Accident Medical Expense Coverage and Excess Volunteer Liability.  CIMA coverage includes Accidental Death and Dismemberment Coverage up to $2,500.  Please report all accidents to the RSVP office as soon as possible.  We will begin the paperwork for your claim.

 
RSVP means results.  Your time is valuable, and we maximize every minute.  Our program focuses on making a tangible difference here in Davis County.  National performance measures guide our efforts and ensure your work contributes to real, lasting change in our communities.  RSVP monitors and tracks the effect of your service.  We analyze the impact your service has made then share that information with stakeholders.  Awareness around issues is enhanced by showing the impact and results of volunteer services addressing unmet needs in communities.  Awareness of issues translates to educating those in positions to provide funding and supplemental services towards those needs. Sharing the volunteer service stories aids the community in multiple ways.
No, you can live outside of Davis County, but you are required to conduct your volunteer work within Davis County.

Yes!  During the interview and orientation RSVP staff will describe the volunteer opportunities available and answer any questions you may have about each potential assignment.  Additionally, all opportunities will provide training. The length and nature of the training will depend on the position’s requirements.

 
Of course!  RSVP strongly believes in finding a volunteer role that suits what you want.  Volunteering can be a great way to discover new skills and interests that you never knew you had.
Probably.  During your interview we can look at ways to incorporate your skills and talents into the program’s current available positions or discuss new ways RSVP can help you put those talents to good use!
