Insect/animal related (also known as vector-borne or zoonotic) diseases are those diseases transmitted by an animal or insect (i.e. ticks, mosquitoes, and fleas). These do not occur often in Davis County. Most often, these diseases (like malaria and dengue fever) are typically acquired outside of the United States. In recent years, Davis County has remained somewhat consistent in the number of diseases reported, with the exception of 2017, when there was an increase in the transmission of West Nile virus.
