Davis County Government is seeking a Tourism Director to ensure Davis County is a tourist destination by developing, planning, organizing and administering tourist programs and events with a County-wide and regional focus. Seeking a personable, creative, accountable and collaborative professional who is team oriented. This is a leadership role responsible for the development and execution of a long-term tourism plan focused on Davis County as an optimal place to “Eat, Stay and Play in Davis County.”

Education & Experience

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management, Business Management, Marketing or a related field. A related Master’s degree is preferred.
Incumbent must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of accomplishment in the areas of local and regional tourism development.

Davis County offers a competitive annual salary range of
$105,726.40—$163,196.80,
as well as generous benefits listed below.

Position Outline


Supervises

Supervises all administrative functions for programs within the Tourism Department.

Financial

Prepares and administers department budget; forecasts the funding needs for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitors, approves and controls expenditures; implements budget adjustments as necessary.

Represents

Serves as advisor to the Davis County Commission; providing insight, recommendations and potential strategies. Collaborates effectively with all Davis County stakeholders, including but not limited to: Davis Chamber of Commerce; Utah Office of Tourism (UOT),Tourism Tax Advisory Board (TTAB). Conducts quarterly county-wide tourism meetings with hotels, restaurants, related venues and other tourism stakeholders. Develops alliances with key business sectors – Arts, Hospitality, Events, Regional business, Culture, Entertainment and Tourism. Actively promotes meetings, events and conventions in Davis County.


Marketing

Coordinates effectively and creatively with marketing firms and tourism marketing partners to develop digital, internet, social media, and print marketing tools and programs supporting the regional marketing goals. Reviews analytics from internet sites and manages data to improve marketing plan. Meets regularly with lead generator parties, representatives for Davis Conference Center (DCC) and Legacy Events Center (LEC)to provide referrals to lead generators and to offer related support services; attends monthly meetings with allied partners to ensure marketing plan and efforts are current and progressing.


Position Overview

Under the broad policy guidance and direction of the County Commission, performs highly responsible, professional, administrative and managerial work in coordinating a tourism focused program directed towards the promotion and development of Davis County's tourism industry including those businesses directly impacted by an increase in tourism such as the hospitality, restaurant, and recreational venues.This is an appointed (at-will) position under the direct supervision of the Davis County Commission.

Event Oversight

Provides oversight and management of staff for existing events such as the Commissioners Cup Golf Tournament, Bird Festival, Antelope by Moonlight Bike Ride, Tour of Utah, Davis County Fair, Davis County Art Shows, etc.
