TOP Star - Teaching Obesity Prevention in Early Childhood Education Settings - is a free continuing education program for child care providers designed to help improve the quality of the nutrition, physical activity, and breastfeeding environments in their child care facility.
From birth to age 5, a child's brain develops more than any other time in life. Early childhood years are a critical time to support a child's development and establish lifelong healthy habits.
What are the benefits of TOP Star?
Complete the pre-assessment.
Help us obtain a baseline of your facility's strengths and determine areas for improvement.
Complete the online training.
A minimum of 75% of staff are encouraged to take the training, but it is essential for directors, managers and other key classroom leads.
Develop or improve policies.
Create or improve policies for each of the areas: nutrition, physical activity, and breastfeeding. Work with your local TOP Star Consultant during this process; resources, sample policies and tools are available.

Your “Star” level will be determined based on your points.
