Live On Utah

 

 

Created in Utah, Live On is a statewide effort to prevent suicide by promoting education, providing resources, and changing our culture around suicide and mental health.

We believe that everyone has the power to prevent suicide—including you! That’s why Live On created the world’s first-ever suicide prevention course taught entirely over Instagram. In just a few minutes per lesson, you will learn the skills that could help you save a life.

Firearm Safety

 

 

Over the last decade, the Utah firearm-related death rate was consistently higher than the national rate. In 2020:

  • The majority (84.1%) of firearm deaths in Utah were the result of suicide.
  • 91% of firearm suicides among youth under 18 occurred at home.
  • The majority (85.5%) of firearm deaths were among males.
  • Handguns were the most common type of firearm used in all firearm deaths (77.1%).

Like CPR, QPR is a simple process that anyone can be trained to use to help prevent suicide. Participants learn the warning signs of suicide, how to ask Questions to assess the situation, Persuade the person to accept help, and Refer the person to a professional for help to get them through the crisis.


Duration: 1.5 hours

Group Size: generally 10-35

Davis HELPS

Davis HELPS Coalition
Davis HELPS (Health Education and Law Enforcement ProgramS) is a coalition dedicated to helping Davis County, Utah be a healthy place to live. This long-standing coalition takes the lead on coordinating prevention efforts throughout the county and is currently focused on preventing suicide.

HOPE squad

Hope Squads
Hope Squads reduce youth suicide through education, training, and peer intervention. Hope Squad members are nominated by their classmates as trustworthy peers and trained by advisors.

Ask your school about Hope Squad and join the movement of empowering students to seek help and save lives.
