I’m an extremely involved parent of four children in Davis schools and have unique skills that few board members possess. I attended BYU on a National Merit Corporation and full academic scholarship, graduating cum laude with a degree in humanities and a double minor in physics and math. I then joined the highly respected law firm of Kirton McConkie immediately after finishing law school at BYU. I want Summit, a learning program with a heavy focus on kids learning on their own on computers, to be truly optional for all children and teachers. Summit is radically different from traditional learning and has caused controversy among our district community. I’m half minority and half white, and I want the district to handle racial education with balance. I offer my legal know-how to help keep our district out of costly legal trouble like that which it has been in recently. I want district money to go towards teacher salaries and smaller class sizes instead of legal battles. I advocate for parent voice while balancing parent interests with teacher needs. I wasn’t asked to run by top-level district administration, and I’m not beholden to any unions. Thank you, and please vote Julie Powell!

I am a former teacher in Davis School district. I am a wife and a mother of 4. I have lived in Davis county for over 30 years. I am very concerned about the direction our school district is going. Currently only one member of our board has children that attend Davis county schools. I understand that parents know what's best for their children. We are the number one stakeholders in our children's education. Parents need to feel like they are being heard by the school board. We have the strongest state constitution that supports parents rights in the country. Teachers need to be able to teach the subjects they love. They shouldn't have to worry about CRT, SEL, pornographic books, boys being on girls sports teams, Summit and all of the other things creeping into our classrooms that have nothing to do with our children's academic education. Students need to interact with their classmates and teachers. They don't need to be on computers all day. I believe in traditional education, and that is what I will fight for when I am representing you on the school board.

I have lived 62 of my 64 years in Davis County. My wife Julie and I have 4 children. I and my children attended and now some of my grandchildren attend Davis County Schools. I served a 2 year Mission to Paraguay. I received a B.A. and a Teaching Certificate from Weber State and a M.Ed. in Educational Psychology from B.Y.U. Since retiring after teaching full time for 40 years as a Released Time Seminary Teacher I am a Substitute Teacher in Davis School District. I also served on the Kaysville City Council (2006-2015) and since 2014 on the Central Davis Sewer District Board of Trustees. I do not bring to the table any hostility nor animosity toward any person nor program in the school district. I do bring to the table experience, integrity, a listening ear, a helping hand, a kind heart, and a “Student First Philosophy”. When students, parents, teachers, and administrators work together astonishing things will be accomplished. Thank you, Mark Johnson

Kristen Hogan and her husband, Wade, have lived in Davis County for over 18 years. They are the parents of four children, two of which are graduates of Davis schools. Their youngest two children are currently enrolled in Davis schools. Kristen received her BA degree in English from Brigham Young University. She has served two times as PTSA president of Syracuse High and has served on the PTSA board for many years. She also served on the community council for Cook Elementary. But above all, she has been a weekly volunteer in her children’s classrooms for over 15 years. • Kristen comes from the perspective of a parent who desires more input in her children’s education. Schools provide knowledge but parents mold character. • Kristen values good teachers and believes in making their job easier, not harder. • She believes in traditional educational models that have proven successful over time. • She believes less $$ should be allocated to overhead costs and more sent directly to the classroom where it will make the biggest impact. • She believes students should be taught information free of political or social agendas. Get to know me and why I want to represent you. My wife Nancy and I relocated to Clearfield in 1998. We have proudly raised our two daughters in the Davis School District. Our daughters are now dedicated educators, and my grandchildren are in their own journey of education in our district. Over the years I have participated in the South Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, Clearfield City Planning Commission Utah State PTA Convention and served roles within local school PTA and Community Councils. As an experienced businessperson with years of management, leadership, and life experience, I am here to be your voice, your listening ear, and your advocate on the school board for Davis School District. It would be my honor to represent everyone: educators instilling their knowledge and love of learning to our youth; young parents trying to balance the learning of their children with the foundation of family; parents of older children wanting to have a voice in their child's education; parents of graduated students who still participate in community activities; and those who just want to have a voice in education in Davis School District.

My name is Jenny Stoker, and I am running for Davis County School Board, Precinct 6. My family moved to Davis County seven years ago, and we fell in love with this area and the people. I have been active within the community focused on parents and children for many years. Upon moving to Utah, I joined and served as president of the MOMS Club of Layton, where I helped mothers develop a support group. I then served on the PTA board for my children’s school. I have spent hundreds of volunteer hours making school fun and exciting for all students. Because of the pandemic protocols last school year, like many parents, I homeschooled all four of my children. It was a very rewarding experience, but also a huge eye opener; I was extremely disappointed with how much academics had been sacrificed for ideology. Only one member of the current school board has a child attending school in Davis County. The board is making decisions with no firsthand knowledge of how those decisions directly affect students. That situation is unacceptable; it is time for parents and grandparents of students in the Davis School District to take back control from politicians.

My name is Emily Price. I grew up in Davis County. I have lived in Clinton for 15 years. I have four children, all educated in Davis School District. I am running for school board because I care! I care about students and their overall well-being. I care about parents and believe they should have a voice in their child's education. I currently serve on the Community Council at Syracuse High School and West Point Jr. High. I was a weekly classroom volunteer at my children’s elementary school for 14 years. I care about educators and believe they should be treated with respect, civility, and professionalism. I will serve and lead in collaboration, cooperation, kindness, and respect. I will work to support the educational interest of students in Davis School District. I will be a representative for every constituent in my district. I will listen and be a voice for my community. I value different perspectives and will make informed decisions. It is important for all stakeholders to have a voice and be heard. Because I care, I feel strongly that I can contribute to the overall success of the students of Davis School District through my efforts as a board member.

I have been a resident of Davis County most of my life. I've attended Elementary, Jr. High and High Schools in our great county. I am a Layton High school graduate, Class of 1992. My husband and I have been married since 2005. We have two wonderful children, 12 and 10 years old. I have worked in the Information Technology field for over 20 years and currently work as a Web Server Administrator. I will continue to work and serve as a Davis County board member, if elected. As an elected official it is my job to represent my constituents. I don't work for anyone, but you. We need to get back to a more traditional education and focus on academic instruction, citizenship and civics.

Hello, I am Adrienne Scott-Ellis, and I am running for the Davis School Board. As a native of Layton and a graduate of Layton High School, I am a product of the Davis County School District. I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education from Utah State University and I have given 30 years of dedicated service to the growth and development of students within the Davis County School District. I loved being an educator and the children I have taught. I entered the profession with a fierce determination to ensure that no child would ever have to feel uncomfortable being themselves. I chose this profession to make positive impacts on students who would become the adults of future generations and to be an example of perseverance, despite all odds, to any student I encountered. Together with my husband, Terrence, I have raised three wonderful boys, including one with special needs; and in partnership with parents, I helped to raise over 1,000 children who now lead with love. I am running because I am committed to helping even more students grow a better future, through a high-quality education, policies and curriculum that prepares all students for success.
