Tobacco Prevention & Control

Tobacco use is the number one preventable cause of death in the United States. The Davis County Health Department conducts a number of programs designed to prevent tobacco use, limit exposure to second hand smoke and help people quit using tobacco.

E-cigarettes come in many shapes and sizes. Most have a battery, a heating element, and a place to store liquid. E-cigarettes produce an aerosol by heating a liquid that usually contains nicotine—the addictive drug in regular cigarettes—flavorings, and other chemicals. Users inhale this aerosol into their lungs. Bystanders  can also breathe in this aerosol when user exhales into the air.
