Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program (CSPAP)

CSPAP is a multi-component approach by which school districts and schools use all opportunities for students to be physically active, meet the nationally-recommended 60 minutes of physical activity each day, and develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to be physically active for a lifetime. CSPAP involves these five components:

  1. Quality physical education
  2. Physical activity during the school day
  3. Physical activity before and after school
  4. Staff Involvement
  5. Family and community engagement

The health department can assist schools in strengthening these five components.  A CSPAP training is also available.  For more information contact (801) 525-5070.

Project Towards No Tobacco (Project TNT) Curriculum
Project TNT is a tobacco prevention program specifically developed for 5th-9th grade students. It was designed to prevent youth initiation of tobacco use by teaching students about the consequences of tobacco use, addiction, and disease while simultaneously building skills for effective communication, refusal, cognitive coping, and self-esteem development. Project TNT consists of 10 core lessons, each lasting 40-50 minutes.

The Davis County Health Department highly encourages teachers to teach this effective program that has been proven by the CDC as a "program that works."  All the materials needed to implement the program will be provided by the health department.  If you are interested in teaching Project TNT contact (801) 525-5070.
