Work Center FAQ

• How do I get moved to the Work Center

  Work Release:
  
  To qualify for the Work Center Work Release program you must have a Judges referral. If a Judge recommends Work Release for you, prior to your move to the Work Center you must provide a letter on your employer’s company letterhead that states:
  

  • The days you work
  • The hours you work
  • Your supervisor’s name and phone number

  This information must be faxed to the work Center at 801 451-4248.
  
  Work Detail:
  Selection of inmates for the Work Detail program is at the discretion of jail supervisors. 

• Work Detail Fees:

  Selection of inmates for the Work Detail program is at the discretion of jail supervisors.
  
  $30.00 orientation/baseline UA fee, this is a one time fee.  

• Work Release Fees / Requirements:

  Work Release is a $18 per time fee for going into and out of the Jail/Work Center to allow the inmate the opportunity to transition back to the community or maintain a job that the inmate held prior to their conviction. Work Release fees must be paid in advance.

• Work Release Inmates may Bring to the Work Center:

  Work Release Inmates may bring the following:
  

  • 5 pairs of pants or skirts. Skirts must be knee length and worn with pantyhose
  • 5 shirts
  • 5 pairs of underwear
  • 5 pairs of socks
  • 3 pairs of shoes (shower shoes must be purchased from commissary and count as a pair of shoes)
  • 3 bras (female)
  • 1 set of pajamas
  • 3 disposable razors

  All hygiene items are purchased from the County Commissary, any other hygiene items will not be allowed in the Work Center or obtained by any other means. 

• If I am assigned to the Work Center, can I have my own vehicle?

  Work release inmates will be permitted to drive their own vehicle providing they adhere to the following:
  

  • Inmates who have their own vehicle or ride with someone else must provide the Work Center a copy of a valid drivers license, the vehicle insurance information and the registration information.
  • Work Release inmates may receive rides to and from work with friends or family members as long as the Work Center has a copy of their driver’s license, insurance, and registration.
  • Work Release inmates must park their vehicles in the visiting parking lot on the West side. 

• How do I visit an inmate at the Work Center?

  Davis County Jail now offers at home internet visiting, as well as on site video monitor visits. Visiting will be by appointment only. To make an appointment go to: www.securustech.net/Videovisitation
  
  A visit may be canceled at any time before the visit begins free of charge, but once the visit is started there are no refunds. We recommend using a headset with a microphone for the best sound quality when visiting from home. A monitor and headset is provided for all on site visits. Inmates can receive two scheduled at home internet visits a day according to availability. At home internet visits are subject to a fee. On site public visiting is available by appointment twice a week for 20 minutes and is free of charge. Please schedule at home and onsite visits by visiting the above web address. Visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. You may also schedule a visit in the Jail Visiting Lobby. 

• Can Work Release bring in their own eyeglasses/contacts or medications?

  You may bring in eyeglasses or contacts to the Work Center during regular business hours. Personal outside medications will not be allowed in the Work Center but may be purchased from a contracted pharmacy to be delivered to this facility. 

• What if I am a Weekender?

  Inmates who report for their first weekend must be booked into the main jail prior to being moved to the Work Center.
  
  

  If you are a returning weekender, report directly to the Work Center. 

• Weekender Fees:

  Inmates who report for their first weekend must be booked into the main jail prior to being moved to the Work Center. You may remain at the mail jail for any safety or security reason.

   
  All weekenders who are moved to the Work Center will pay a $30.00 orientation fee which includes rental of eating utensils and bedding, as well as, a base line urinalysis test. This is a one time fee.

  Weekender fees for a weekend are $50.00. Other fees may apply.

  You must contact Davis County Accounting Department at (801) 451-4112 to verify the exact cost of your fees prior to checking in.

• Can Weekenders have their own clothes?

  Weekenders are allowed to wear their own clothes.
  
  Weekenders will be allowed:

  • 1 pairs of pants
  • 1 shirts
  • 1 pair of pajamas
  • 2 pairs of underwear and 2 pair of socks
  • 1 bra (female)
  • 1 pair of shoes

  A hygiene packet can be sold to the weekender for the same cost as jail inmates.

  Weekenders will not bring in any hygiene items to the Work Center.

  Weekenders do not qualify for visiting.
