Public Internet computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Each patron may use Public Internet computers for a maximum of 3 hours per day. This is a "per person" limit, regardless of the number of accounts or guest passes obtained. Patrons using the Library's wireless network are not subject to this limit.
The Public Internet computers are divided into different areas based on usage types (not all types are available at all branches):
Multi-Purpose computers (1-hour sessions) are to be used for casual/personal purposes. Examples of these uses include but are not limited to: social media, shopping, personal email, entertainment, or games. If there is a question whether your use qualifies please inquire at the reference desk.
Children’s computers (1-hour sessions) are intended for multi-purpose use (see above) by children in the children’s area.
Info/Tech computers (3-hour sessions) have specific software installed or provide special access to other resources and are intended to offer additional options to library patrons beyond a standard internet computer. Library staff may ask patrons using these computers for other tasks may be asked to move to a different location to allow another patron access to the unique resources available only via info/tech computers.
Access to Multi-Purpose and Children’s Internet computers is based on 1-hour time limits, which should roughly equate to 1 hour of wait time or 1-hour of uninterrupted access to Information Internet computers.
If no one is waiting at the end of a 1-hour session, a patron's time may be extended for another session. Time will not be extended when other patrons are waiting, or beyond the daily 3-hour limit.
Each computer is connected to a printer. Cost of printing is
$0.05 per black/white page
$0.10 per color page
When finished, please click on “End Session.” Please do not log off, turn off, or restart the computer.
Since public Internet computers are not encrypted or secured, personal financial data is not protected. All uses and transactions are conducted at the user's risk.
Illegal activity is not allowed.
Patrons may not display images or visual depictions that are harmful to minors, as established in Utah State Code 76-10-1201. For further policy and guidelines regarding this limitation, please review our internet access policies using the link below.
