Volunteer

Do you love animals as much as we do? The Volunteer Program at Animal Care of Davis County was designed to support and enhance the goals of our shelter and enrich the lives of the animals in our care. By being a part of our Volunteer Program, you will:

  • Increase the number of shelter adoptions
  • Keep our shelter animals clean, safe, healthy, and happy
  • Encourage responsible pet ownership which includes licensing, spaying/neutering, and understanding the relevant local ordinances

Requirements

  • Minors between the ages of 16-17 will need to email volunteer@co.davis.ut.us for volunteer opportunities.
  • Group activities and opportunities must be scheduled in advance with the Volunteer and Events Coordinator. Email volunteer@co.davis.ut.us for more information.

Typical Volunteer Tasks

We are always in need of volunteers to help us at the shelter and at events in the community. On-going volunteer activities include:

  • Exercising and Socializing Animals
  • Enrichment and Training
  • Cleaning and Feeding
  • Assisting with adoption events

Other Ways to Volunteer

If you'd prefer not to work directly with animals, there are many other ways you can lend a hand as a volunteer. Please tell us your skillset and we'll find a place for you to help. Are you proficient in Social Media? Do you have graphic design skills? Are you a great organizer? Let us know!

There are several ways to donate your time and expertise outside of the shelter as well. Inquire within!

VM Gold

Animal Care of Davis County is honored to have received the Volunteer Programming for Maximum Impact (VPMI) GOLD designation from UServeUtah, the State of Utah’s Commission on Service & Volunteerism. The VPMI Designation serves as a trust indicator that our volunteer program is recognized by the Commission and signifies our commitment to excellence in volunteer programming. We’d like to send a special thanks to all of you who volunteer your time and resources for the care of our animals. We couldn’t have achieved this without you!

Foster Application

We always have a need for our animals to be placed in foster homes so they'll get the care and attention they deserve. This ranges from new-born kittens to dogs and cats with special medical needs. Please note that foster applicants may not be immediately contacted based on our current animal population, however we welcome your interest and will reach out to you as soon as possible.

Interested in fostering an animal?  Click the appropriate link below. If you'd like to be considered for both, please fill out each application.
