Behind the Gates at Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve

Join us for a guided walk behind the gates at Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve Freeport Drain Wetlands.

Description

Join us for a guided walk behind the gates at Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve Freeport Drain Wetlands. The wetlands were designed to create sustainable wildlife habitat and are now home to Song Sparrows, Marsh Wrens, Yellow-headed Blackbirds, Red-winged Blackbirds, Ibis, Sandhill Cranes, Mallards, Meadowlarks, Red-tailed Hawks and more. You will learn how the wetlands have become a living laboratory for local universities. After the guided tour, enjoy the self-guided audio tour that leads you by the Preserve’s award-winning visitor center and on a one-mile boardwalk loop trail complete with a 30-foot-high wildlife viewing platform.
