Family Day Activities

Join us on Saturday, May 18th from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm for FREE birding activities the whole family will enjoy! Scavenger hunt, arts and crafts, live birds, and more!

Description

Join us for a FREE Family Day of fun at The Great Salt Lake Bird Festival!

We are excited to team up with HawkWatch International to create one “hoot” of a time.  Come out and enjoy all things birds!

Activities will include:

  • Live Bird Workshops

  • Pinecone Feeders

  • Mist Netting and Bird Banding (9 - 11:00 am)*

    • Come experience this fun hands on activity and learn why biologists use fine mist netting to gently catch small birds, and the proper way to handle them as they are measured and weighed before placing a tiny, lightweight band on their leg. This helps biologists to keep track of the bird and learn about its life-where it travels, how old it gets, and more. You can even hold a bird before it’s released back into the wild!
    • 9:00 - 10:00 am: FREE registration required
