Great Salt Lake Shorebirds with Kevin Karlson

Join keynote speaker Kevin Karlson for a morning excursion to the Antelope Island Causeway, the premier hotspot for experiencing shorebirds in Utah and beyond.

Description

Designated a Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network Site of Global Importance, the Great Salt Lake supports significant portions of the Pacific Flyway’s shorebird populations. Its unique ecosystem, diverse wetland habitats, and superabundant macroinvertebrate food resources make it a critical breeding and stopover for species such as Snowy Plovers, American Avocets, Wilson’s Phalaropes, Black-necked Stilts, and many more. Join Kevin Karlson—author, guide, and keynote speaker at the GSL Bird Festival—and Max Malmquist, Engagement Manager for the National Audubon Society’s Saline Lakes Program, for a morning excursion to the Antelope Island Causeway, the premier hotspot for experiencing shorebirds in Utah and beyond.
