Wings, Wheels, & Beautiful Ponds

Visit two hotspots, each with more than 200 recorded species, on a bike ride from Bountiful Pond to Buffalo Ranch.

Description

Start opening day with a bike ride from Bountiful Pond to Buffalo Ranch Pond and back. We’ll visit two hotspots, each with more than 200 recorded species. Legacy Parkway Trail connects these two birding gems. Aside from a short stretch of light gravel along Buffalo Ranch Pond, the route is mostly smooth, flat, and paved, perfect for an easy, enjoyable ride. The distance is about 9 miles one way (18 miles round trip). During migration, anything is possible, so expect the unexpected and hopefully some rarities if we are lucky. We’ll spend time birding at each pond and stop along the trail whenever something interesting appears. Pack plenty of water, a lunch, and all the essentials for a rewarding half-day trip. This trip is perfect for couples, family, friends, or anyone who owns a bike. Come join the bird ride fun!

*Trip participants are required to provide their own bike and helmet. Bring a bike lock and backpack so we can potentially park the bikes if needed.
