Paramedics

The Patrol Division of Davis County Sheriff’s Office is unique in that many of the deputy sheriffs are also paramedics—a dual-role program that was established in 1978. We also employ law enforcement only deputy sheriffs and regularly respond to calls throughout Davis County and provide dedicated service to Fruit Heights, South Weber, and West Point.

Crime prevention, detection and response, medical response, and community-oriented policing are core to our duties. Special assignments include K9, the School Resource Unit, SWAT, and Search and Rescue.

K-9

Implemented in 2009, our K-9 program is integral to enforcement operations and strengthens our abilities to respond to emergencies. Depending on their breed and skills, dogs are trained in drug detection, patrol/tracking, deputy protection, building and area searches, apprehension of suspects, and search and rescue.

School Resource UNIT

The School Resource Unit promotes positive relations with youth in our schools while focusing on safety and crime prevention. In 2019, Davis County Sheriff's Office began participating in N.O.V.A. Principles, an evidence-based program created by Orem Police Department in Utah. The mission of N.O.V.A. Principles is, "Nurturing youth to seek out positive Opportunities, internalize good Values, and to accept Accountability for their choices in life."

In addition to providing an interactive program for youth, and because of the core role parents have as influencers in their child's life, N.O.V.A. provides a program for parents. Deputy Andrew Rocha is our dedicated N.O.V.A. Instructor and Deputy Paul Coon is our West Point Junior High School Resource Officer.
